Seems I managed to work out the chapter into, hopefully, decent enough shape to have it enjoyable. Had real problems putting it together this time and there were things like travel times that further made things difficult at times, but I think I managed to work them all out. So here it is, the chapter that puts Part Three of the story into motion.
Next chapter will come next week, hopefully 🙂

Chapter 16 of the story is now done and with it part two of the story. A new journey begins that will lead us to part three of the story and the inevitable conclusion of the entire story.

Hello.
Here’s a little something I spent a few hours on during the past few days. Not sure why my short ones always seem to go on a path on the dark side of things, but I hope it still works out ok and you like. This does take place in the world of Balaria, though in a portion that isn’t on the map(yet). For now it’s a stand alone short story, but I’ve been toying with the idea of taking the premise and working it into a longer story. We’ll see if that materializes in the future.

This is one of the more major chapters in the story. It’s also one of the more action oriented chapters so I hope I’ve managed to make those scenes decent enough. I’ve always felt a bit uncomfortable writing fight scenes, but there was no avoiding it this time 🙂

Chapter 13 is here. I’m not entirely sure I’m completely happy with how it turned out, but it should do ok. It is one of those in-between chapters that just develop things. What I do know is that the next chapter will be a significant one with a lot happening.

Near the end of 2011 I entered a writing contest on Deviantart. The theme of it was ‘Hope And Despair Under Empire’. What they basically sought for were texts that displayed hope and/or despair under any sort of oppressive power, be it drugs, rule of tyranny by men or what have you. You can find the original contest announcement here.
I entered the contest with a piece titled ‘Failure’. It is a short view into the desperate life of a man who has lost just about everything in a world now ruled by aliens instead of humans. Here’s a link to it:
Anyway, the judging of the contest finished today and I received a honorary mention for a tied fourth place. 25 texts were submitted to the contest. You can find the winner announcement here. Can’t say I’m unhappy with the result. To be honest even fourth place feels pretty darn good for someone who entered a writing contest of any sort for the first time in his life.

Another weekend, another chapter ready. Some new characters get introduced, a few important events take place and things start heading forward. Also, made a minor tweak to chapter 10 to make things a bit more plausible.

With the new year I also made two resolutions to myself. First being that I will try to write on average 1000 words per day. I’ve been doing that for about a week now and it seems to work pretty well. I used to write when ever I felt like it, but that seems to bring all sorts of problems with it, consistency in text quality being one of them. Seems to bring much better results when you do a little bit at a time every day.
The second resolution was that I’d finish the Guardian Spirit storyline this year. That should prove no problem if I can keep the pace I’m doing now. Might even be that the story is finished within 2-3 months, but we’ll have to see 🙂
